Party of five in Virtual Console games

Hold R for multiplayeREarlier, it was reported that the lineup of TurboGrafx games from Hudson Soft were MIA. And then Hudson themselves finally rolled them out and now, they’re up at the Virtual Console for all the bombing and bonking that you can handle. Indeed, Bomberman ’93 and Bonk’s Adventure are now available for download for 600 points each.

So, are you playing yet? Were you able to check the instruction manual for Bomberman ’93? Read it again, and make sure you don’t miss anything. It states that it’s actually possible to play the game with five players! If you have five controllers (some Wiimotes, some GameCube controllers), then it’s all good. How? Nightwing from the Hudson Entertainment forums puts it simply:

I just tested it with 4 GCN controllers and one Wiimote; so it should work in any combination of controllers you can make happen, just be sure to hold ‘R’ on the first GCN controller when you first load up on the game (not on a reset)

Got it? More than this, another confirmed title playable with five controllers (of whatever permutation of Wiimotes and GC controllers), aside from Bomberman ’93, is Dungeon Explorer. Would there be more games in the future allowing this feature? Maybe from Hudson, maybe from other developers? We’ll keep you guys posted as we find out more stuff!
