PC World Magazine senior editor slain
After the death of CNET’s James Kim, now comes the demise of PC World Magazine‘s Senior Technical Editor, Rex Farrance.
Aged 59, Farrance was shot in the chest when four masked individuals broke into their California home on the evening of January 9. His wife, Lenore, was pistol-whipped but managed to call 911. Unfortunately, the attackers had already fled before the police arrived on the site.
There have still been no arrests made, but Pittsburg police Inspector John Conaty notes that the attack may be related to Farrance’s and his wife’s “possession and, potentially, the distribution of illegal narcotics”. Farrance’s adult children protest this, however, saying that they grew and stored medical marijuana at their home and that they had a prescription for it as one of the sons is a patient.
It can be noted that some health institutions do prescribe marijuana in moderate doses to patients, often to serve as pain killers, or treatment for glaucoma or multiple sclerosis.
PC World Magazine is a computer magazine which is published by IDG on a monthly basis. Rex Farrance had been an editor for the publication for 19 years.
