Perrin Kaplan (VP of Marketing) Video Interview

Rob Summa captured Nintendo’s new Vice President of Marketing, Perrin Kaplan, at the recent NY Press Conference. It seems that she was sitting in the burning heat of the show all day, and as a result was very tired from various interviews. The VP of Marketing didn’t quite show herself off as very knowledgeable on the system specifications, but she did answer some vital questions that we have all been wondering about. The most crucial question is region-locking. As we all know, Nintendo has never locked their systems, yet reports from the UK say it will be. Perrin Kaplan states that it will be region-free though, which is good news for us US consumers and helps clear some rumors.

She also justifies the pricing of the system (although, didn’t look like she knew why the controllers were expensive), and states that adding DVD playback will be pointless and more costly. I agree with the no-DVD player aspect and the statement on the Wii controller being expensive in itself for the technology it uses. So, if you are interested and do not mind un-prepped video interviews, then you should take a look at this one!
