Peter Molyneux: Fable 2 bigger, XBL more impactful than Wii
We’ve heard how confident Lionhead Studios is with upcoming Fable 2 for Xbox 360. The promise of making the best RPG ever has been around even before the original Fable shipped. Now, Peter Molyneux had a chat with website Canaljuegos stressing out how “Fable 2 is bigger and better than the original game in every way.”
Everyone expected Fable to deliver an enormous world, but it was cut down to small linear areas that barely left gamers a choice of where to go. Molyneux apologized for the shortcomings, pointing at technical issues as main culprits. This time though, Molyneux promises that “there will be both total freedom of movement and a broader range of emotional choices.”
Heard that before? That’s not all. He continued: “The world is totally free roaming and simulated to such a degree that not only can you go anywhere you want but you can buy everything you see and could end up owning and ruling the whole world!”
We can probably count on that, after he said, “We [Lionhead] now have no excuse not to do this as we have all the time and resources we need.”
After talking about how amazing Fable 2 will be, the interview leaned towards gaming. Here’s what Molyneux said when asked about the industry and technology of this generation:
All I can say is that Microsoft is an incredibly smart company and I never fail to be impressed by just how clever they are. DonÂ’t forget this is the company which pioneered LIVE which I believe will ultimately be far more impactful on video games in the long term than something like the Wii controller.
