Apple’s iPhone shipments in the United States fell in July, despite the overall growth of the market. However, the iPhone 15 Pro was the bright spot in the company’s shipment. The iPhone has been the most popular brand of smartphone in the United States for a long time. In July, however, a report indicated that Apple’s phone lineup struggled while others thrived. According to Counterpoint, the US smartphone market saw sales increase by 5% year-over-year. Samsung and Motorola were the main drivers of this growth, not Apple. Apple’s share shrank 4% from year to year, which Counterpoint attributed to the low summer upgrade rates. The overall sell-through is down, but the improvement in “high-value and high-margin iPhone 15 Pro” continues the trend of consumers choosing premium models. The comments come after a report on July 31 that showed the iPhone 15 Pro as the third most popular smartphone in the world, based on Q2 sales. It was behind the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with 3.7% and the iPhone 15, with 4.1%. Analysts always welcome the premium model increase, as it shows that consumers are willing to pay more for a higher-priced device with higher specifications.
