Physics middleware gracing more and more 360 games
Havok, the company behind the popular physics middleware of the same name has published developer’s comments about their software, used in recent titles like Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Outfit.
The latter was developed by Relic Entertainment, who state: “With Havok we were able to fully realize our vision of next-generation environments that players could truly interact with.”
Even more games will use the physics kit in the future: Saint’s Row, Crackdown and Stranglehold, to deliver an expansive and flexible environment for players to tinker with. It seems that an integrated physics engine is really becoming the standard in games now – a well-deserved status, raising the bar for game quality even higher. Let’s hope we’ll never see enemies falling into walls again.
