Pieces of Eight – more creepy screenshots

Do you know Arcane, that point and click game where players follow a path and check out clues(if you don’t find them fast, you’re dead)? Well, if you enjoyed playing that, you’re certainly in for some mystery solving in Pieces of Eight.

Pieces of Eight is actually a Spanish dollar (it’s made of silver and worth eight reales, hence the name). That would probably give you a clue as to what the game is about. Eric McConnell from indie game developer, Hidden Sanctum, explains the new screens:

We are quite happy about releasing these exciting new images from Pieces of Eight which should give players a good feeling for the direction and diversity of locations that they will be experiencing in the game. We wanted to avoid giving out just a few sample images – deciding it was best to release a larger number at one time and giving players a broader sample of what to expect.

And what a creepy and gloomy ambiance it paints. Story takes us to the late 1600’s when pirates were hunted down. Eight of the most notorious make an alliance and plunder the New England coast. After amassing oodles of wealth the said pirates mysteriously disappear in 1722. Rumor has it that they hid their treasure in an underground complex in one of the islands. Three hundred years later, you receive a package with clues about an island just off the New Hampshire coast.

Interested? Well, Pieces of Eight is set to hit a PC near you in Q2 this year. The game’s afoot!
