Pirates of the Burning Sea wanna ship with 1000 missions

This ain't exactly the Love Boat you requested. - Image 1

Flying Labs’s Content Designer Jess Lebow sets this target on his latest devlog: 1,000 missions out of the box for Pirates of the Burning Sea. One thousand reasons to sail, cannonade, pillage and loot, raid, and otherwise make one’s self a bloody nuisance on the high seas – Jess also promises none of these will be boring milk runs. So why in Davy Jones’ name would he raise the bar so high even if it kills him?

  • “Because I don’t want you to run out of stuff to do while we’re putting together the first content patch and expansion.” Good for 300-600 hours of play, not counting economy and PvP forays, estimates the good man Lebow. That’s a lot of hours to make up a thousand bad puns.
  • “Because I don’t want any two people to have exactly the same experience. I want your choices to change the way you experience the world we’ve created.”
  • “Because deep down maybe I don’t really think we can make it. Maybe that target is just a little too pie in the sky.” There’s an old saying: aim for the moon if you want to hit something in the sky. Flying Labs intends to pack as much content into the game. Maybe not up to a thousand, but a hell of a lot is better than nothing. Pirates can’t be picky, either.

A thousand ways to skin a cat does sound like the freedom of being a pirate.

Unless you’re the cat.
