Play.com joins “pre-order cancelling” bandwagon?
Ohnoes. Ohwoes. Thisbloes! There goes another one. What’s happening to the world? First, Lik-Sang gets dumped by the Sony lawsuits. Then, Play-Asia cancels its UK pre-orders. And now… Is Play.com cancelling its Wii pre-orders?
w1ll_haven forwarded us an email that he got from Play.com about how his pre-order got cancelled. The letter is worded a bit weird, because at the start, they say that his console was cancelled. And then towards the end, they’re speaking as if he still has the pre-order. Whaaa?
Dear Customer,
Due to a European shortage of the Nintendo Wii Consoles, we regret to inform you that Play.com will be unable to supply your pre-ordered Nintendo Wii at launch. As an Official distributor of Nintendo products we are guaranteed more stock before Christmas, but Nintendo have informed us, along with all other official Nintendo retailers, that the console will not be freely available until next year.
All pre-orders will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis and we will fulfil your order as soon as we can.
If you no longer wish to keep your pre-order with Play.com please login to your account and remove the item from your Outstanding Orders.
Kind Regards
PLAY.COM
So, what does this mean, exactly? He has a pre-order, but the console won’t arrive, is that it? But if that’s the case, it defeats the whole concept of calling it a pre-order then. Regardless, there’s still that one fact here: is Play.com also starting to cancel their pre-orders?
If you guys have any more info on this, we’d be glad to hear it so we can settle things out.
