Play your PS2 backups on your PS3

We picked this up from the site cited on our Via link below, and supposedly, it’s now actually possible to run your PS2 backups on your PS3. According to Breath of Fire’s post, the whole process that you will read later on, as well as view, thanks to the embed vid from YouTube, has already been tested with 1.10 FW.

Now, as for the instructions:

  • Take the torx bole out, slide the face plate off and remove a few phillips screws
  • Take the metal cover off the top of the bd drive
  • Remove the plastic cover and unplug the sensor. Secure it down with a couple of screws
  • Cut a circle (with a plastic-cutting saw) on the top cover.
  • Sliding your face plate back over allows for swapping, as well as maintaining that clean look for your PS3.
  • Boot the PS2 DVD and wait for it to load
  • Hold down the PS button, quit game. Then, slide your cover back and push down the disk secure magnet. This will stop the laser, but not the spinning.
  • Swap disks and press circle (jp), X to boot your backup.

And there you have it. Swap Magic confirmed that this is, however, unplayable with 1.31. Then again, as Breath of Fire stated, this exploit is unconfirmed with that FW version. Also, SwampMagic is only needed for PAL conversion and CD backups. So, we hope this is helpful to you, guys.
