Playstation 3 Game Around $60, Says Activision CEO
Earlier, we asked you guys how much exactly would you pay for your PS3 games. Here are a few of your responses:
- “60$ is the max I would pay for games, if it gets to 70$ then i may just wait for prices to drop on the games I want,” – lansingone
- “I just paid 60 bucks for FFXII. 🙁 I guess it’s okay, but, something more than 50 dollars is a bit expensive…” – ShinFuYux
- “Umm I know some you guys would shell $100… If its for MSG or FF thats probably it. If games are charged 70 or higher i wouldn’t even bother with a PS 3 until there is a price drop on the PS 3 and when the games I want are in the bargain bin,” – eslim21
- “nope, the blu-rays would cost 15-20 bucks for consumers don’t they?. But bought in bulk by these companies they would still be relatively cheap, and get down to price of dvds in a couple of years. i think mod chips will become an even more important part of your console in the future if they keep raising the prices of games.” – mick
But how much will a PS3 game actually cost? Well, according to our source, Activision CEO Robert Kotick confirmed that PS3 games will cost around $60 USD. After all, producing PS3 games will probably be expensive with the Blu-Ray and all.
“We have not seen a lot of consumer resistance at the higher price points, and we expect that all of our next-generation products will be launched at $60 price points,” Kotick said.
Kotick said that Xbox 360 games were around $60 USD as well, and cited Call of Duty 2 as an example. However, he assured that consumers will get their money’s worth, though. But what do you think, now that we have word on the price of PS3 games? Are you willing to shell out 60 bucks for that?
