According to a recent report, the manufacturing costs of the PlayStation 3 have almost halved since its original launch.
Now before you raise your pitchforks over still not seeing a price cut anytime soon, you should know that they’re still losing money with each one they make.
The original manufacturing costs of the PS3 when it launched was US$ 840. The console was being sold for US$ 599 back then, which means they were losing US$ 240 with each console sold.
Manufacturing costs have lowered to US$ 440 per unit. At a selling price of US$ 399, that means they only lose US$ 40 now. Good for Sony, and it should enlighten some of you who are wondering why they don’t introduce a price cut. But if you’re really desperate, go to India.
