PlayStation 3 SIXAXIS “freeze” reports anew
For the guys who were victims of the the previously-reported incidents of the SIXAXIS suddenly conking out, we’re bringing a new batch of updates on the controller’s apparent Bluetooth ailment.
According to CVG, discussions regarding the controller’s seizures have been popping up again as of late. If one can recall, the last discussion was back in November, with members of the NeoGAF boards reporting controller lockouts which lasted for 3-5 seconds on some of the newer Playstation 3 games such as Gundam Musou. Also, even Playstation 2 were also causing the controller to freeze up, and several gamers have reported the same symptoms while playing God of War II on their PS3s.
These recent incidents prompted Mmmkay over at NeoGAF to draw up a survey, in an effort to try to help narrow down the probable causes for the lockouts. According to the results, the problem does not appear to be power-related, and results seem to point out that the SIXAXIS lockouts could be either due to a case of hardware or protocol misuse.
When Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) UK was contacted regarding the matter, the spokesman was quoted to have said that they were “unaware of any faults” with the SIXAXIS’ connection, and that it was “the first I’ve heard of it“. The spokesman then pointed out that the problems being reported may have been caused by people somehow dropping or mishandling the SIXAXIS.
At the moment, people who have experienced this problem are using a fix, where one has to reconnect the SIXAXIS controller to the USB port. So, has anyone else been experiencing the same thing? We’d love to hear from you via the comments.
