PlayStation 3 thief chased with samurai sword
Hell hath no fury like a PS3 fanboy scorned. A couple of thieves tried to ransack siblings Damian and Deanne Fernandez’s house, and also attempted to steal their prized Sony PlayStation 3 console last Friday afternoon.
The brother and sister were alone in their residence when two men pried open their front door, prompting the frightened Deanne to hide in her closet. The two burglars managed to take some jewelry from the master bedroom, and then moved to Deanne’s room, which they kicked open, and took their PS3.
The PS3 thieves never guessed what was coming when Deanne’s brother, Damien, who just woke up from his nap, showed up with his katana at the ready. “Once I saw him take off running back, I jumped off my (bunk) bed and I grabbed my sword Â… and I just waited for him,” he said. He managed to strike at one of burglars at the chest, to which Damien attested, “He freaked out.”
Well, we’ll certainly freak out ourselves if somebody waved a samurai blade right in front of us.
Police managed to catch only one of the men, Javier Cotera, who was hiding behind a nearby palm tree. He was arrested but released the next morning on bond, much to their disappointment. Delio Fernandez, the siblings’ father, is worried that both of the robbers are not in jail. “If he would have had a gun, I could have lost one of my children,” he said.
Cotera, 21, is set to face three charges of felony in court. Just goes to show that people can’t get away with stealing PS3s – PS3 fanboys will fight tooth and nail just to protect their beloved console. With samurai swords to boot.
