psIf PlayStation is poison, then Vietnam got a very hearty snake bite over the weekend. Sony bared its fangs and took a big chomp, and so the PlayStation brand finally sets foot on Vietnamese soil.

With the fangs in place, Sony injects three very potent toxins into the cultural bloodstream (might as well go with the metaphor): the PS2, the 120GB PS3, and the PSP-3000. The three officially became available for the first time last Saturday, so they no longer have to envy Brazil, which had their dose of the PS2 just last November.

The PS2 retails at VND 4.49 million – relax, it’s just US$ 240. On second thought, that’s not very relaxing either. The PS3 comes at VND 9.99 million (US$ 540), while the PSP is at VND 5.99 million (US$ 320). Certainly pricier than the ones already imported into the country, but well, it’s official.
