PlayStation Home appears on PSN registration page
Appearing on the PSN registration page today was the long-awaited PlayStation Home. Mind you, it doesn’t actually work yet but given they announced open beta to start on Q4 of this year, this is probably a good sign that we’re pretty close to sampling the thing ourselves.
Have you tried to set up a new account on the PSN network? I think you might find something new on the registration page…
Yes, appearing next to the PlayStation Store and the PlayStation Eye buttons, is the long-awaited PlayStation Home. Mind you, it doesn’t actually work yet.
Given Q4 2008 is supposed to be when open beta starts, the appearance of Home on the registration page is a good indication that we’re right at the very brink of launch. So: Yay! We should soon be able to simulate having a real social life. (I wonder what it’ll be like?)
To those of you not familiar with Home, it’s basically a community social tool for PSN users. One creates an avatar, furnishes a virtual apartment and then interacts with other PSN users. Kinda like The Sims 2 but online and free, although people will still spend real money for virtual items. The service has been in development since 2005 and has yet to be given a final release date.
