PlayStation Home European Beta is real and starts today
It’s been a quick brushfire rumor just a couple of hours back that European PlayStation Network users started whispering about getting into a closed Beta trial of PlayStation Home. Plenty of people were skeptical at first, especially with pretty cheesy screen captures of the PlayStation Home interface.
But eventually, it seemed that more news about it came up, saying that European PlayStation fans claimed to be selected to take part in the first batch of Beta testers. And then, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) dropped the hydrogen bomb, stating in an official press release that the PlayStation Home Closed Beta period starts today (May 1), and left the rest of the PlayStation fans (those who weren’t invited) from other regions drooling. (And us crying.)
It appears that being in the same region as the developers who are working on the PlayStation community software has its advantages. PlayStation Network users in Europe get to try out the software first-hand before the rest of the regions follow suit thereafter as the Beta progresses onward through the summer. Surprisingly, Sony follows through with their PlayStation Home timetable after all, missing the April deadline by a hair’s width.
