PlayStation Network upgrade on May 8 for PlayStation Home?

PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store downtime coming on May 8, 2007 - Image 1

To all our PlayStation readers out there: d’ya guys get this? It seems that Sony just announced a three-hour downtime for the PlayStation Network, including the PlayStation Store, for Tuesday. That’s on May 8 from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. BST (or 5 p.m.-8 p.m. CEST). The reason for the downtime was sketchy, although they did mention that they’ve got great things coming up for the PlayStation Store.

Could it be related to PlayStation Home? Well, while you’re free to speculate, it seems that Sony is gearing up to enhance the collection of content for their online retail. And there really shouldn’t be cause for alarm. In case the time conversion for the approximated three-hour window escapes your mental capability, Sony assures you can stay logged in at the time PSN goes down.

Of course, while it is down and you’re in a network game, try to prolong the experience because you won’t be able to start another multiplayer session or re-login to the Network for quite some time until the upgrades stick. Such isn’t the case for the PlayStation Store, however: you won’t be able to access it at all during the downtime.

Thanks to Danny for the tip!
