PlayStation Patrol trucks to roll out with LittleBigPlanet
Think Sony isn’t doing enough to reach its fans? Think again! The company lets the good times literally roll by announcing the return of its PlayStation Patrol trucks. These road monsters are rigged with mean gaming hardware and killer titles that’ll make you drool all over yourself. The best part is that LittleBigPlanet is on this tour and will be accessible to those who want an early experience with it. More after the jump.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the good times just keep on rolling with the PlayStation 3. Now, that’s both a literal and a figurative statement because Sony has announced that it’s launching not one but two PlayStation Patrol trucks from its garage.
If you’re not familiar with the PlayStation Patrol concept, it’s basically a big Sony truck pimped with the hottest gaming rigs for gamers across America to enjoy. We’re talking about PlayStation 3s riding high with big screen LCD TVs equipped with recent and upcoming game releases.
The biggest game which will be carried by the PlayStation Patrol is undoubtedly Media Molecule‘s LittleBigPlanet. In the game’s tour with the trucks, players will be able to access it months prior to its launch so they can tell people if the game stacks to its billing as a ground-breaking creation.
Rock Band by Harmonix will get its fair share of the spotlight in the PlayStation Patrol. An interactive stage will be in the tour and it’ll allow players to perform on it and show off their skills. What’s more, the PlayStation Patrol is also the registration hotspot for the game’s “Take the Stage with Rock Band On Tour” where a band of up to four members can win the chance to perform in a sidestage live at an actual concert.
Those who like singing solo will also find themselves a nice spot to hang out as Singstar will have its own stage. Tunes can be belted to the heart’s content as you sing along with such acts as The Killers, U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Outkast, R.E.M., Radiohead, Britney Spears and The Pussycat Dolls.
There are also regular gaming stations where hits like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots can be sampled. We must say that Sony deserves praise for bringing back this cool way of promotion, and we can’t wait to have a Patrol truck stop by in our turf soon.
