Playstation Pornable makes it to Fox News
While we are all busy discussing what features of the PSP need to be removed and the firmware updates to activate PSP-PS3 remote play, the outside world is still hooked talking about the dangers of gaming specifically its relationship to pornography. Sony‘s electronic device made news last November 9 as it was the main topic of a Fox News Channel’s investigatory segment.
According to the report, the PSP is not a tool for pornography in itself but it definitely provides access to it through its Wi-Fi capabilities. There was then a mention of a school boy who got in trouble in school. Reportedly, the poor boy showed his classmates and friends that his PSP is not limited to just racing and playing football, but can display nude pictures of women as well.
Given this, the authorities still think that it is a minor concern. Aside from issues of hatred and violence, the greatest danger lies when child predators pose as other gamers. The ‘net, as we all know, can not very well filter and ascertain the identities of people who go online.
This definitely will result to adverse affects to gaming as our elders will again view it as harmful and dangerous. It is a consolation to note that the report, which can be viewed below, was written fairly and objectively. It even ended in a rather disappointed-but-we-can-do-something-about-it manner with the statement: “Gaming should be fun and entertaining. It shouldn’t be a pass way to trouble.”
