PlayStation Store: Delayed for some, none for others
Depending on where they live, PlayStation 3 (PS3) owners may have to wait a bit longer before purchasing games or downloading updates at the PS3’s PlayStation Store. According to recent reports, the PlayStation Network‘s online store is still unavailable in certain territories such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Slovenia.
These are the fortunate ones, however, as a Sony representative explains that some countries will not receive the online service at all.
“There are more than 102 territories in the region, and each (PlayStation) Store has to be made unique for each territory due to different currencies and languages,” said Nick Sharples, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s (SCEE) director of corporate communications. “Stores will reach some territories in due course,” he further explained.
Sharples further said that some countries will not be able to connect to the PlayStation Store due to factors such as broadband penetration. “The PS Store may not be accessible in Azerbaijan, for example,” he said. For the guys who are still having difficulties logging on to Sony’s PS Store, just stay alert in case further details arrive.
