Possible New Dashboard Interface for Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player

With the upcoming release of the Xbox 360’s HD-DVD player, a lot of 360 owners have probably been wondering what changes will be made to the dashboard interface. If you’re one of those people, then wonder no more. Well, actually, you’re free to wonder some more, since these are not final plans…

Anyway, one of the questions that were raised in this week’s Major Nelson podcast brought up the new interface. Before, the interface was like this:

Open Tray (Before)

Now, the development team’s come up with a pretty interesting way of doing it. See, they’re looking towards using the up/down arrow key to select which tray you want to open after choosing the “Open Tray” button. Remember, these aren’t final, and are subject to change. All these photos are from the Gamerscore blog, except for the “Open HDDVD Tray”. It had a redundant “Disc” in there and we edited it out. Please don’t get mad at us. Anyway, enough with the blather! Here we go:

AFTER (without disc in drive)

Open Disc (after)
Open HD-DVD (after)

AFTER (with disc in drive)

Play DVD (after)
Play HD-DVD (after)

One final word, though: POKEBALL.
