Possibly unnoticed POPS changes in 3.10 and 3.11

There’s a lot of ruckus lately surrounding the homebrew scene and the latest firmwares released by Sony. When you think about it, it’s kind of hard to separate 3.10 from 3.11 as there are only minor differences.  Even Dark_AleX mentioned, allegedly, that he will not be coming up with a new custom firmware because it will prove to be more cumbersome to all of us.

Moreover, DAX said that he might just come up with a plugin to launch all POPS for 3.11 because those are only the real changes between the two firmwares. Now, we received a tip from one of our readers, Synthetic Chaos, about these changes. It really is helpful because these were not included in the official change log of 3.10 or 3.11.

Also, Synthetic Chaos reminds us that “in 3.11 there is now a [Reset Game] feature in POPS.”

On a related note, to those of you who didn’t quite pay attention to the POPS settings for 3.10, here are the changes as compiled by Synthetic Chaos:

  • Added [Assign Controller Ports]
  • Added A “Zoom” Screen Mode
  • Added [Black Level Adjustment]
  • Added [Volume Adjustment]
  • Added Support For PAL Games

Update: So sorry. In the rush to get this article up, a slip-up in the first paragraph got through. It originally said “he [Dark_Alex] will not be coming up with a new downgrader” in the first paragraph. Yes, this is incorrect and will confuse newbies. You’ll note it’s been corrected to read “he will not be coming up with a new custom firmware.”

Thank you so much to all of you for quickly commenting on this! It was the speed and number of your comments that brought this article to our attention so we could fix it right away.
