It has been said on countless occasions, that user generated content is going to be the next big thing. We definitely don’t have any problems with this, though some companies are finding it to be somewhat dubious. While the community cannot be categorically labelled as direct competition, the practice still cost companies some profits to a certain extent.

It seems that developer Flying Lab Software (FLS) isn’t thinking along this line when it comes to their creation, Pirates of the Burning Sea. The User Content Migration feature lets players to come up with their own, among others, ship designs. Once the company’s staff approve the design, fans will be able to find their stuff alongside other in-game NPCs and items. And for FLS, so far so good.

Technical artist Joram Hughes and the UC Steering Committee recently approved and added two more user created ships to the game’s official Captain’s Ship Guide. Accordingly, the Trinity was submitted by Remus77 while the La Belle was made by user Hans. For more information about these ships and the others, click on the Read link below.

Anyway, the community envoy (that’s the relations officer) is encouraging fans to come up with more designs of their own. Without a doubt, we believe that this call will be answered by a multitude of players. A player, after all, can always find pride protecting and controlling something he himself came up with.
