Power Management Plugin

3r Ch4mp1 dropped by our forums recently to announce the creation of the Power Management Plugin which, as the name states, is a plugin you can use to optimize energy consumption and thus save on battery life.

According to the author, Power Management Plugin has four modes. The first is Music Mode, which underclocks the CPU to 60Mhz and the main system bus to 30 Mhz. It’s main purpose is to save battery life while allowing you to listen to music. The second mode is called ToggleIdle, and its main purpose is to disable the autoidle function of the handheld (useful if you’re reading a PSP magazine, for example). The third mode is called PowerLock, and it disables the console power switch to prevent accidental shutdowns of the PSP. Lastly, we have Software Full Power Off, which essentially shuts off the entire system, much like Test30’s FastPower application.

3r Ch4mp1 notes that you should probably use the different modes on the root of the XMB to avoid hangups. That being said, why not give this nifty plugin a try? Just remember to check the readme beforehand. Enjoy!
