Prepare to spend some more for composite cables

Composite cablesOf all the Wii window titles available at launch, around 30 or so games run in 480p and 16:9 modes – That means high-definition TV owners would be needing the much debated composite cables. Finally, Nintendo of America has come up this morning with an official statement regarding the issue. Yes, the composite cables are on their way…to online retail outlets.

It is still a wonder, at least to us, why Nintendo is sticking with this kind of policy.  Everyone would remember that the company did the same with GameCube. And speaking of which, the old cables are not compatible with the Wii console.  Also, NOA reveals that the cables would cost $29.99 on several online retailers including Nintendo’s store, Best Buy, Circuit City and EB Games.

Simply put, those planning to buy a Wii should be prepared to shell out another 30 bucks. And just as of this writing, we can already hear faint so-much-for-the-cheap-price sighs.
