Scratch another unannounced title in Sony's TGS lineup. Famitsu's jumped the gun yet again (earlier, we saw them reveal Irem's Disaster Report 3 for the PSP) and let everyone in on a new PS3 game from Sony Computer Entertainment and From Software.
Scheduled for a 2009 release in Japan, Demon's Souls is an action-RPG set in what looks like a world taken from the same pages of Shadow of the Colossus.
Only a few bits of information about the game are revealed in the scan - let's hope TGS brings in a big batch of details for us (Demon's Souls is going to be playable during the event!). But for now, we know the following:
- Who's that Pokemon? You get to create your own hero at the start of the game - lots of character customization options typical in any MMO.
- Epic beasts included! See the scans? Check out that bird-like manta ray creature floating above the castle - need I say more?
- Choose your poison. Gameplay mechanics in taking down a monster will drastically change depending on what weapon you equip. More so, your tactics will also have to adapt depending on it being a one- or two-handed weapon.
- Tired of playing the hero? Apparently, the game is designed to be somewhat open. Going by IGN's description, "players are also pretty much free to approach the game as they please. There's only a limited purpose to the game. Even if a character asks you to save the world, you can ignore them and still progress."
Well, it's not exactly another King's Field title, but what's the initial result of Kaji and Miyazaki's efforts? Demon's Souls.
