Pretty pretty eyes: a new Heavenly Sword screenie
Peonic of the Ninja Theory Forums claims that they’ve managed to get approval from Sony to release a screenshot of Ninja Theory’s Heavenly Sword that shows of some some supposed in-game graphics from a “real-time cutscene screenshot.” Below is the image, which they cropped to fit into a wallpaper-friendly 1280 x 1024 pixel image size.
While the blurs may be a bit annoying, check out the detail on the skin and on the moisture on the eyes. Anyhow, the original post goes like so:
IÂ’m assuming most of you have seen the “Cinematic Production” teaser. The facial model and texturing you see is based on the actress and the expression is comprised of a series of blend-shapes driven by the mocap data. Each expression is tweaked by us so that we remain true to the original performance.
Lighting and depth of field is then applied to the scene and the results, I hope youÂ’ll agree, look pretty nice. This particular example doesnÂ’t have the floor in place and weÂ’ve made it into a 1280×1024 size image so that it can be used as a desktop wallpaper.
Of course now you’re all thinking if the actual gameplay in Heavenly Sword will look like this still from the cutscene. Well, one of the folks from Ninja Theory, “Ninja Tameem” writes:
The DOF in-game is good but not THAT good. Better specular on the eyes is something we are working on and other techy bits to help improve the lighting response on the blend-shapes. If these come together, then the layman should not be able to distinguish that screenshot from the final result. Fingers crossed!!!
Well, perhaps with enough filters running or something they’ll get the in-game action look like the cutscenes. Since we’ll be playing the game, we hope they get the job done.
