Problems With DLC Outside US and UK
Arguably, US- and UK-based Xbox gamers are more fortunate than those living somewhere else (well not including those in Japan). Why is this so? Because games are usually released later and Marketplace content arrives later still. Apparently, the reason behind this “inequality” is that Microsoft has put Europe mainland together as one region, so when Marketplace content is released, it should be ready for all countries in that region which is no problem for European countries like the Netherlands but poses serious gaming issues in Germany and Italy.
In fact in Germany they are so strict with video games that any game showing red blood in its cover will receive an “Adult” rating which means best selling games such as Oblivion will not be available because of this stern law. With this dilemma looming over the horizon, it seems that Italian and German Xbox gamers are pushing for a localized version.
Some gaming aficionados are wondering why canÂ’t the German and Italian gaming community just set up their XBL account like they live in the US and get everything. There are some gamers who changes it around so they could download Japanese only demos (smart!). But then again, this idea would mean more costs since they would still have to pay for the points. The good news is that, allegedly, Microsoft and Bethesda are working to find a solution for countries that have no need for localized content. So the affected parties better keep their fingers crossed and say their gaming prayers sporadically.
