Project Exile: RPG from Up North
Role Playing Games have always been an arena where the Japanese really excel. But that’s not stopping Canadian group Studio Archcraft as they try their hands at RPG for the DS: Project Exile. This game was supposed to be for GBA but then the folks upstairs thought this would be better suited for the Nintendo DS.
The story is about this boy who has no magical powers. What’s so special about that? This boy lives in a world where everyone has magic! He’s considered as an outcast, cursed even. People avoided him because there was someone like him in the past, he went bad and unleashed hell on earth. How our hero will find a way to get over this difficulty will be the starting point for the whole game.
It has sprites, 2D, and nice graphics. Let’s hope they improve on the graphics quality when they finalize the whole game. The graphics remind us of Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger. The music also needs a bit of updating as the one on the video still sounded like it came from a GBA. Let’s hope they improve the graphics and music once it comes out first quarter 2007. The company is thinking how they will be integrating the two screen feature of the Nintendo DS.
Until then here are some screenshots, character art, and video.
