Prometheus Redeemed

PrometheusPrometheus, one of SaturnÂ’s moons, got its name from Greek mythology. Prometheus was a Titan who tried to change and mould man but he took too long. To make a long story short he ended up stealing and mocking another god. As a result he was tied to a rock where a single eagle ate out of his liver every day and every day it would grow back.

The name given to Saturn’s moon is very fitting as it was known as “the thieving moon” because it gravity stole particles from the F-ring surrounding Saturn.

Astronomers have recently discovered that this moon may actually give back the particles that it takes when it orbits Saturn. Simulations have been done that support the idea that the particles drift back into SaturnÂ’s F-ring eliminating the idea that Prometheus only stole. More simulations will be done by astronomers to find out how this actually occurs.
