Prototype for recyclable bike: environmentally friendly twice over
I’m such a nut for environmentally friendly stuff. I found this one while browsing through some random stuff on the net. It’s a prototype for a plastic bike made from recycled materials, and is even recyclable itself! More in the full article.
I am such a nut for clean and green. I found this little gem while browsing through the web – it’s a prototype for a recyclable bike, made from -get this – recyclable material. Ok, it’s not stylish, granted, but what the hey.
The inner frame and the outer structure are both made of plastic. Ideally, when the bike makes the production lines, the plastic will be sourced from recycled plastic, as the type you’d get from bottles and containers. Not only would this mean a more environmentally-friendly bike (twice over), but it means a cheaper bike as well.
Now you may be wondering just how well a plastic bike would hold up. Well, it utilizes a strong triangular structure and molded “beams” for increased strength and more efficient weight distribution. If these words don’t mean much to you, just watch the vid and see the bike in action for yourself:
