PS Home gamesharing: don't do it - Image 1

PlayStation Home Community Manager for Europe, Ted TheDog, posted an update on the email invites situation which got a lot of expectant gamers deeply frustrated. According to him, they’re still working on the issue, which is external and related to the volume of overall mail they’re trying to send out.

Apparently, they were able to send *only* 2000 emails and a huge chunk failed to go through. Their quickfix plan for it is to resend all of the emails that they are certain didn’t get through – which is the majority – and then send an even larger batch on Thursday. Hopefully, the email block problem would have been fixed by then already.

If you want to get an idea whether or not you’re a casualty of this mail blockage mishap, and so technically should have received an invite, Ted TheDog shares that:

[T]he first batch targeted a percentage of people who had downloaded something from the store. It had nothing to do with the number of posts in the forums (emphasis ours). The next batch is largely based around active gamers, ie those who have logged into a SCEE hosted game in the last couple of months.

Apart from that, he also warned against the practice of gamesharing essentially because it requires you to share your personal account details, and doing this is “just plain dumb” as he correctly puts it.

Never ever give anyone your PSN Login ID or your Password. Please, be smart about this, giving your account details to someone else is just like giving your account away hoping to get it back. Open Beta isn’t that far away.

So to you guys who just can’t wait, we say it sucks, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Heed his warnings. It’s for your own good.
