PS2/PC character import confirmed for Phantasy Star Portable
We have some good news on the Phantasy Star Portable front: it has just been confirmed that the handheld game will indeed let players import their PS2/PC Phantasy Star Universe characters. More including gameplay and story details in the full article.
More news from Sega, and this time it’s about Phantasy Star Portable for the PSP. Perhaps the biggest bit is that the game with allow Phantasy Star Universe players on either PS2 or PC to import their games to Phantasy Star Portable.
Not everything will be included when you import your character, though. To keep things at a challenging level, the only things imported will be name, race, gender, appearance, voice type and pitch, level (up to 20 max), and currently equipped cloths and parts. Stuff like meseta, fighting type and partner machinery will have to be left behind.
Story-wise, the game will take place in the same three stars as Phantasy Star Universe. Phantasy Star Portable will feature an all-new scenario mode. The story itself will connect Phantasy Star Universe and the Ambition of the Illuminus expansion.
Four-player ad-hoc co-op will also be supported. The character you use in the multiplayer mode will be the same as the one you use in the story mode. Level, items, and the like will be carried over to multiplayer mode.
As we reported earlier, Phantasy Star Portable is slated for a July 31 release in Japan. There’s still a big chance for a stateside release, though, seeing as Phantasy Star Universe has also hit international shores. Keep checking back here for more updates.
