PS3 20Gb version not going being sold in the UK?

UK high street games retailer Gamestation has put Sony’s PS3 up for pre-order on their website for £424.99. Now, this may not seem very special, as it is around the price we were expecting for the P3 in the UK, after the PS3 prices were announced in Sony’s  E3 2006 press conference to be $500 for the 20GB version, and $600 for the 60GB version in the US.

The interesting part is that there is only one option, the 60GB version. Gamestation told Games Radar “in no uncertain terms” that it was because Sony wouldn’t be releasing the slightly more wallet-friendly bundle in the UK, but weren’t offered any explanation as to why the 20GB would be unavailable in the UK.

We’ll have to wait for monday to see if Sony can shed some light on this in the form of a press release!
