PS3 Costs Too Much, Says Final Fantasy Creator

PS3Good news for Sony: The PlayStation 3 is the top choice for Square Enix‘s Final Fantasy as well as for Komani Digital‘s Metal Gear Solid.

But not right now – and not at its current price.

“Two to three years from now, the PS3 will be the most appropriate choice,” said Tetsuya Nomura of Square Enix in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Ge-Maga. “We feel that when the games that we’re making are released, the PS3 will be strong in the market…right now, as a game machine, it’s too expensive. “

Komani Digital’s Hideo Kojima agrees on the subject of PS3’s quality, comparing the Sony console’s gaming experience to watching a movie on the big screen. Meanwhile, he considers the XBox360 akin to watching a DVD at home, while the Wii is “a television program.”  While he didn’t mention retail price as a factor, Kojima expressed disappointment that Sony was removing “rumble capabilities” in the PS3 controller.
