PS3 demo booths in Japan are underwhelming?

biocat over at NeoGAF posted these two pictures of PS3 demo booths (each at a different Bic Camera branch) in Shibuya. AndriaSang was able to check out the booths and explained that by holding down the PlayStation button, you can go back to the XMB and select the TGS trailers for Devil May Cry 4, Ridge Racer 7, Gran Turismo HD, and Virtua Tennis. The booths are only using 720p screens.

Both biocat and AndriaSang agreed. The PS3 demo booths didn’t get a lot of attention. But this is Japan, so it’s DS Lite country – and nobody’s paying attention to the Xbox 360 demo booth either. Maybe these booths would be a big hit in the U.S. (until we loot the stores and take the PS3s home, hehe). Then again, if the booths are “underwhelming”, maybe it’s because the demos are stuff we’ve all seen from TGS?

Marketing-wise, the booths don’t seem like such a hit so far. For example, those who tried the Gran Turismo game said the graphics needed a lot of work (jagged edges and other ugly stuff). Maybe whoever the wise guy was in Sony who insisted on putting such a choppy build of GTHD into the demo booths should think more closely about the games on their next batch of booths.
