PS3 eBay numbers just keep on growing

The numbers just keep on growinSo the PS3’s been released in Japan, Hong Kong and the US. People camped out, excruciatingly waited in line for hours, got mugged, partied, and some lucky guys even had a sort of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” experience and were handed freebies.

And while those who got their beloved consoles are hardcore fans (who are probably having a blast with their PS3s right now), well, we can’t deny the fact that there were also people who bought a PS3 for errr… financial purposes.

After all, the PS3 is currently in limited stock, so getting it right now and selling it for a heftier price seems such a good deal for most people. Remember the homeless Chinese people hired by various businessmen in Japan when the PS3 was launched there?

Anyway, FierceGameBiz reveals:

As of 9:23 a.m. Friday, 174 PS3 consoles have sold for an average selling price of $2,618.47, and since its availability on eBay in pre-sale (October 17 until midnight last night), 3,533 PS3s have been sold for an average price of $1,788.88.

FierceGameBiz further says that the average price for the PS3 “has nearly doubled in just a month”, and that as of now,  there are 1,579 PS3 units listed in eBay. *whistles* What a way to rake in cartloads of cash.
