PS3 Fallout another crappy port?
PS3’s version of Fallout 3 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) seems to be getting a little heat from PS3 owners. Bethesda’s Forums are awash with reports of choppy frame rates, graphical glitches, random lock-ups, and several other issues. Two major bugs have already been confirmed so far.
So it seems there was some truth to the leaked PS3 Fallout 3 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) review circulating the internet some time before the game’s release. You may recall it mentioned problems with the graphics and frame rate, which was later downplayed by PSM3. Well….
The game is now out and owners of the PlayStation 3 version are reporting choppy frame rates, graphical glitches, random lock-ups and a whole bunch of other things. They’ve taken their complaints to the Bethesda Game Studios Forums if you’d like to see the specifics or air your own grievances.
Two major bugs have already been found. A system lock up during the GOAT test and another where the game pauses whenever a PS3 notification occurs. Bethesda advised workarounds for the two bugs: The former by saving and restarting, the latter by turning off all notifications in the XMB. A patch may be on the way soon but there’s no official word on that yet.
On the other hand, Xbox and PC owners are mostly reporting smooth sailing for their post-apocalyptic hellhole experiences and are looking forward to the massive DLCs promised by Bethesda – the DLCs that were confirmed to be exclusive to PC and Xbox only. I’m sure PS3 fans are sticking little needles into Peter Hines dolls about now.
I’d be doing exactly the same… but I wisely bought the PC version.
If it makes you PS3 version owners feel any better, I did experience a graphical glitch during the GOAT portion too…
