PS3 games’ graphics critiqued
With the PS3’s launch looming closer than ever, it’s not so hard to find people losing sleep in anticipation, or probably nervousness. And why not? This next-gen console’s spun more controversy than any other, and has literally kept us on the edge of our seats. So it’s not entirely improbable that there would be some who are worrying if; one, the console itself would hold up to its promised stellar features; or two, the games would really be as spectacular as expected.
Well, Dean Takahashi over at Mercury News seem to be one of those people who wouldn’t want to lose sleep over not knowing if the games for the PS3 would meet his expectations. So he took his sweet ol’ time finding out just really how good the PS3 games look back at Sony‘s event. Here’s his verdict: The PS3 games are looking good, even for first-generation games.
In fact, to be more blunt about it, he goes on to say that from what he’s seen, the games actually looked better than Xbox 360 games. Although that’s not exactly the case for each and every game, the point is that the general feedback for PS3 games is that they’re in a pretty damned good shape. Well, ain’t that a whole lot of good news?
Some of the games he’s observed are Ridge Racer 7, which he claims to look batter than the previous Ridge Racer 6 for the Xbox 360, Resistance: Fall of Man, which he’s tagged as a must-have on the PS3, and Virtua Fighter 5, which, according to him didn’t look nearly as good as DOA 4 on the Xbox 360.
NBA 2K7 was said to be a worthy comparison to the NBA 2K6 title last year on the Xbox 360, while Call of Duty 3 supposedly strikes painfully similar to Call of Duty 2 that debuted on the Xbox 360. Lair is something to watch out for, next to Resistance, as it is supposedly fantastic.
And what about the race games NFS Carbon and Gran Turismo? Well, he only got a cursory look at these games, but he thought that RR7 has got a whole lot of headstart when it comes to the x-factor over these two games. Although, it has to be said that Carbon appeared better than Gran Turismo.
Anyway, this is just one guy’s opinion. But maybe, just maybe, it could calm down those butterflies in your stomach for even a bit. At least you’d have a decent idea of what to expect when the launch titles do come out. Then, you can go try it out for yourself and have your own say about it.
