PS3 Madness: Steps to confirm your preorder
A few years ago, the coming of “Ber” months only signifies one thing – Christmas is almost at our front door. Come 2006 and a month before the “Ber” period, there’s one month that’s just as special as December – November. No it’s not because we love the Grim Reaper more than Santa, but because that’s the month our PlayStation 3s will enter our world and perhaps will change our lives.
Ok, the last four words is an exaggeration, but the folks here at QJ has been rattling each other of talks about Assassin’s Creed, MGS4, PSP compatibility, and anything PS3-related. So we were very excited when we received this e-mail from Patrik Steneryd detailing the steps to confirm the said console’s preorder; yep, we’re all as excited as you in getting our hands to these very promising machines.
According to him, some Swedish online retailers started taking preorders for the PS3 about two weeks ago. Patrik explained the process best in saying “The preorder campaign works like this. You put in an order for the PS3, and in the beginning of august (one retailer has a date of august 10), these retailers will send out a preorder package containing a DVD with trailers for different PS3 games together with a preorder code which you register on a site that will be revealed in the preorder package. On this site you register the code and inform Sony where you preordered your PS3. You do this so they can distribute the PS3:s to the retailers based on the number of preorders they have. So a retailer having 200 preorders would get twice as many PS3:s as a retailer with 100 preorders.“
He further added that “Major retailers in Sweden like discshop, Siba and OnOff have also started taking preorders. I believe this preorder system is used in other nordic countries as well since the picture used in the item description at these online retailers have info in danish.” If these process is indeed being implemented by Sweden, then it is very likely that the same rules will apply to the rest of the world. We don’t know about you but we here think black is getting more and more brighter then red to our eyes.
