PS3 now ahead of 360 in Japan
According to a report from MCV, Sony‘s PlayStation 3’s doing better than the Xbox 360 is. That is, if you’re only referring to Japanese sales.
While the Wii has taken a rather large lead, it seems the PlayStation 3 is now in second place. A year since its release, Microsoft‘s console hasn’t fully taken off in Japan, selling less than 180,000 units in that time. The PS3, on the other hand, has apparently sold more than that in its first month, exceeding Xbox 360 sales by 10,000 units.
It’s a positive thing to look at, given how the focus has been on the production problems of each console. Still, you have to wonder how many of those PS3 units were bought, not for playing, but for reselling. Of course, if ever Microsoft has something snarky to say about the PlayStation 3, they can fight back with this little tidbit of info, right?
