PS3 PR Video: fighting cancer with Folding@Home
In order to help in the fight against cancer, researchers at Stanford University and the folks from Sony Computer Entertainment America, have teamed up to bring the Folding@Home project to the PS3. The said project helps researchers study the folding and misfolding of human proteins, the results of the study can help increase the understanding of the cause of diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and cystic fibrosis.
We’ve informed you folks about this before, QJ blogger Chris L. has even included nice diagrams, a fact sheet, and several nifty images. But just in case you’re a bit more curious about the project, below is the Sony PR video. It explains it just a bit better (that and it has moving graphics on how the molecule simulation is supposed to look like):
Again, eager volunteers should be able to contribute when it becomes available by the end of this month. Not breaking news, but the good cause still makes this video worth posting.
