PS3 sales down by 82%

ps3 - Image 1From the phenomenal 165,000 units sold in its first week, the Sony PlayStation 3’s sales fell sharply by 82 percent as confirmed by some 7,000 retailers across Europe
That brings down the grand total of PS3 sales in terms of hardware to some 30,000 units across the continent. Similarly, the two best selling games for Sony’s high-end console, MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of Man are down 60 percent in overall sales.

The news was confirmed by such retailers as GAME, Gamestation, Play.com, Asda and HMV. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has refused to comment on the matter thus far.

The report was verified by research group Chart Track and reported by gaming business website Games Industry.com. It can be recalled that the PS3 was recently distinguished as the “fastest selling console of all time,” but analysts and message boards predicted a decrease in the following weeks.

We hope to get a verification from Sony soon to find out their stand on the subject. We’ll keep you informed.
