PS3 scalpers’ dream of making big money goes pffft

News from Canada has it that PS3 scalpers are making zero profits as the shortage of supplies eased up. One scalper “Trevor” stood in line for 18 hours on PS3 launch day in November 17. The plan was to sell it to someone desperate enough to pay more than twice its regular retail price. Trevor is offering his 60GB PS3 bundled with one game and an extra controller for CAD$ 1,540 (US$ 1,331) or best offer. So far, no sale.
Fellow scalper Dwayne Paul is selling his 60GB console for CAD$ 2,000 (US$ 1,728) or best offer. His dream of making a killing remains a dream. “It’s easy to get now,” he said. “It’s not a hot commodity.” Both are planning to return their PS3 to the store.
Yet a third scalper, Steve Romito, is also having trouble profiting from the PS3 mania. He is offering his 60GB PS3 for CAD$ 1,000 (US$ 864). But he says he intends to keep it for himself if no one buys it.
