PS3 To Get Downloadable Games?

That Game Company LogoIf this one is true, then we are really in for a treat as gaming consoles are putting their best features forward. Apparently, job postings at That Game Company caught the eye of some PS3 spectators.

There are openings for 3 positions- Senior Game Engineer, Senior Graphics Engineer, and Lead Artist, and all these openings are for the development of an unannounced title for the PlayStation 3.

According to the job description at the said company, “the position starts immediately and will last for 4-6 months with the potential for employment on future projects. We will be working in-house at Sony’s SCEA studios in Santa Monica. This position is an excellent opportunity for an engineer and an artist to work with a small, dedicated team and be involved in all aspects of game engineering on a next-generation console.”

When contacted, That Game Company president & developer- Kelee Santiago shared that the game is for a service which will offer downloadable casual games, pretty much like that of the Xbox Live Arcade. The games will become available for download on the PS3’s launch day. The still undeveloped game is a port of That Game Company’s free game, flOw.

If such is the case, then we can say that the console wars are really heating up now that PS3 will allegedly compete with the popular Xbox Live Arcade which offers downloadable content. When asked for his comment about this, Sony Public Relations Head, Ryan Bowling said that this development is unannounced.

Well, we all know that just because it is unannounced doesn’t mean it ain’t true. But then again, we can’t say it is true until official word about it comes out so let’s just wait and see.
