PS3’s 80GB Motorstorm bundle officially discontinued
It’s official: Sony has sent out a statement that confirms the discontinuation of the 80GB PlayStation 3 Motorstorm bundle. Don’t worry, though. You can still get a unit with a big hard drive with the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 bundle when it arrives. Details after the jump.
It looks like this is the end of the line for Sony‘s 80GB PlayStation 3 Motorstorm Bundle. The console manufacturer has recently made it official by sending out a statement that reads “retailers aren’t getting any new inventory of the 80GB Motorstorm bundle,”
Those who fancy bigger hard drives need not worry, though. This isn’t the end of production for the SKU per se. Rather, Sony is said to be shifting its focus on the upcoming 80GB PS3 bundled with the DualShock 3 controller and a copy of Konami Digital Entertainment’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots .
If you haven’t been reading up on your PS3 news as of late, let’s make it clear that the aforementioned MGS4 80GB PS3 bundle is different from the Gun Metal Gray limited edition PS3 that Konami is offering up in its own site. The Konami bundle has a 40GB hard drive with a different finish, a copy of MGS4, a DualShock 3, and other MGS4 goodies..
This seems to be a nice move by Sony as Motorstorm has been around for quite a while now and Evolution Studios is set to launch Motorstorm: Pacific Rift later this year. We’ll keep you posted for more.
