Pseudo Interactive’s last project before shut down: Carmageddon

Pseudo Interactive's last project before shut down: Carmageddon - Image 1Given Carmegeddon‘s type of gameplay, it is understandable that a lot of you will be hurt to know that Pseudo Interactive was actually working on another entry into the franchise for release on current-gen platforms. We say “was” because the studio has already shut down its doors. Know more after the jump!

Pseudo Interactive's last project before shut down: Carmageddon - Image 1We all learned just a couple of days ago that development studio Pseudo Interactive has finally closed its doors to operations. This was brought about when SCi and subsidiary Eidos Interactive encountered problems and dropped several projects.

Speaking of which, also mentioned in that report was a list of projects that have been canned because of the closing. One of them was a secret title that was being worked on by Pseudo.

This may be a bit heartbreaking, but we just got word that it was actually Carmageddon. The title was originally released back in 1997 for Windows and Mac.

Given its gameplay and the tag line “The Racing Game for the Chemically Imbalanced”, it’s no wonder that Carmageddon was the only game banned in the UK prior to Manhunt 2. Our source added that this is actually part of a bigger restructuring plans that eventually led to the killing off 14 projects and laying off 25% of SCi’s total workforce.
