PSM3 “played ZOE3”? Did someone foul up in layout?

PSM3Mmmkay from the NeoGAF forums found this ironic example of editorial oversight in the December issue of Playstation 3 Magazine (PSM3). In the plastic bag the magazine comes in, they say they’ve “played” ZOE3. ZOE3… like Konami‘s Zone of Enders 3, right? But after reading through the entire magazine, Mmmkay found nary a trace of anything ZOE3-related, let alone any article that says that PSM3 played ZOE3.

Cry foul did many in NeoGAF who replied to Mmmkay’s post. Cry foul, too, did a couple or so of commenters in PSM3’s own newspost about their December 2003 issue. Of course, to be fair, it is the plastic bag the magazine came in – the actual mag cover’s dedicated to their cover story on Bully (Canis Canem Edit).

On the other hand, the bag’s the first thing people see in the newsstands. As replies in both NeoGAF and PSM3 point out, ZOE fans were suckered into buying content that they were looking for, but they ultimately didn’t get. Yeah, it’s just one story, to be fair about it. Maybe the Vice City Stories and Bully features will more than make up for it.

(Or maybe, it’s a coming story for next month, one theory goes. Huh? Then isn’t that supposed to be printed on the bag for the next issue?).

And Battalion Wars II was a Nintendo UK Mag exclusive, right? Oops? (Somehow we’re expecting PSM3 to reply to all this… now all we have to do is wait.)

PS: we tried looking for a “ZOE3” or “Zone of Enders 3” hit in QJ.net, Wikipedia, IGN, etc. No hits so far. In fact, the third game in the ZOE series is a GBA game, come to think of it.
