PSN and PS Store downtime for Europe
On May 8, Tuesday, the Playstation Network (PSN) and the PlayStation Store will be down for the whole of Europe for around three hours. It will take place between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. BST (5 p.m. to 8 p.m. CEST). Don’t worry though because according to a PlayStation Europe forum moderator, it is not without a good reason.
According to the post, the online service needs to be taken offline because of some maintenance work and mire importantly for upgrades. Community Coordinator Lestrade posted,
We are hoping to complete this work in as short a time as possible and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. But remember that these enhancements are paving the way for new and exciting content that we have planned for the Store.
Take note that you can still continue playing an online game you’ve already started during the downtime. However, you will not be able to log in or start a new game until the full service has been restored. Also, access to the Store is not possible during this period.
There’s still no mention if a similar “upgrade and maintenance work” will be conducted by Sony in the U.S.
